'Voice panel' with 2.000 smart speaker users

Kantar is the first research agency in the Netherlands to have access to a representative sample of Dutch smart speaker users.

This voice panel provides access to almost 2.000 smart speaker owners, including almost 1.750 Google Home users.

Of these voice users, more than 150 background variables are known. This includes family characteristics and buying habits.

    Large scale voice research

A major research preceded the building of the 'Voice panel'. Kantar was the first in the Netherlands to investigate the use of various voice applications on a large scale. We conducted this survey among 37.000 Dutch households.

The research shows that since the introduction of Google Home on the Dutch market, just 4.5 months ago, 5% of Dutch households already use a smart speaker. 17% are familiar with smart speakers, such as Google Home and Amazon Alexa, and 4% indicate that they intend to use one in the near future. This means that the expected growth of smart speakers in Dutch households in the coming six months is around 80%.

Gerben Boot, Client Service & Innovation Director Kantar TNS: “Our research shows that voice is on the rise in the Netherlands. With the arrival of smart speakers, the line between online and offline is blurring even more. This offers companies great opportunities in many areas, such as improving services and building brands. We are therefore happy with our new "Voice Panel", the only representative panel in the Netherlands among smart speaker users.''
